Dr. Malik completed his undergraduate studies at Union College in
Schenectady, New York, where he graduated with an honors degree in biology.
He obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla,
NY. He completed his general surgery residency at the
Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He has taken
additional laparoscopic courses at
George Washington University
Dr. Malik is a member of the
Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Society of American
Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the North Carolina Medical
Society. He is a fellow of the
College of Surgeons.
Dr. Malik is currently serving as Vice Chair of The Department of Surgery
Committee and Chair of The Department of Surgery Quality Improvement
Committee at Wake Med Cary Hospital.
Dr. Malik's interests lie in advanced
laparoscopic surgery, including inguinal and ventral hernia repair,
appendectomy, colectomy and nissen fundoplication.
He also has experience in and enjoys endocrine
surgeries such as thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy.
Dr. Malik is married with two children. His
recreational activities include golf, swimming and reading WWII history.
